Design for the outposts of HumanityWe are Spade: a design practice dedicated to shaping the future of human life in space.
Together with visionary brands and organisations, we create flight-proven products that bring comfort and culture to astronauts.
Space is possibly the most cooperative endeavour of all. And we are here to help you turn your vision, expertise or craft into tangible contributions to the future of human spaceflight. From idea to orbit

Morpheus ResearchMorpheus is a study carried out in partnership with CNES, the French space agency, into the opportunities for technical development around astronaut sleep, and more generally the ergonomics of the bedroom: the place for rest within a workspace, but also the place for intimacy within a shared space.
Human commercial activity in LEO and plans for distant exploration of the Moon and Mars are creating new challenges for astronauts. Consideration of the psychological factors associated with long-duration flights invites us to reflect on the notions of comfort, intimacy, sense of security and ergonomics in the context of space travel, and particularly in the private spaces reserved for astronauts. These restricted spaces in which the astronaut sleeps, withdraws, and deploys his private sphere, are an opportunity to address a number of issues linked to physical and psychological comfort and intimacy.
In this context, Morpheus offers genuine ways of improving the psychological state of crews on missions where this factor can be even more critical than during stays in low-Earth orbit.
A pathway to SpaceOver the years, we have developed a method that enables non-space companies to engage in concrete space projects. We designed, built, tested and flown hardware, all the way to the International Space Station.
Our expertise combines the craft of industrial design with a proven capability in spaceflight programs. We operate within a trusted ecosystem of aerospace partners and a bespoke insurance framework that recognises our standards. This foundation ensures the reliability and compliance of every project we take to space.
Mumm Cordon Rouge StellarThe Stellar project began as a simple question: how do you celebrate in space where you cannot pour, share or even bring your nose to a glass, and where every drink is sipped from a plastic pouch. Spade explored this challenge with Maison Mumm and transformed it into a complete design and engineering programme. Together, we shaped a new ritual for weightlessness and built a system that made it possible. We designed a new gesture, engineered an orbital-safe bottle and guided the whole project through qualification and integration for the AX-4 mission operated by Axiom Space.
This project carries a centuries-old ritual into a new frontier. It required years of research, dedicated technologies and a full regulatory pathway involving both aerospace safety standards and AOC Champagne requirements. In 2025, two flight models reached the International Space Station, marking an important milestone for Spade and for the broader ecosystem of brands contributing to human spaceflight.
For Spade, Stellar shows how design can bring culture into orbit. It carries the craftsmanship, vineyard traditions and terroir that define Champagne on Earth and reflects a broader ambition: creating space habitats that feel more human and more deeply connected to the world we come from.

Human-centered. In Space and on Earth.Space exploration has entered a promising era, opening its door to a wider range of nations and private actors. But in stark contrast, most habitats are still places of survival rather than life.
At Spade, we work to support the psychological well-being of future astronauts, explore the importance of rituals and routines, and pave the way to a broader participation in human space exploration.
By bringing expertise from food, sleep, hygiene, sport, culture and everyday life into orbit, we help transform space habitats into environments where people can truly live. This work brings humanity to space and, in return, generates insights and solutions with direct value on Earth.
